  9. Climate in Bangkok
October in Bangkok is the end of the rainy season. Temperatures are expected to range between 24 °C (night) to 34 °C (Day) approximately. The weather is likely to be pleasant, but with relative high humidity at times. For more information on current weather forecasts, please visit http://www.tmd.go.th/en/province.php?id=37. Isolated rain showers are unlikely, but could occur so a small umbrella might be useful. It is also advisable to bring your own appropriate clothes (a light jacket / shawl or scarf for ladies) as the meeting room will be fully air-conditioned.

  10. Transportation
Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport is located approximately 30km east of Bangkok. Please see the following web site for a map of the Suvarnabhumi International Airport: http://www.bangkokairportonline.com/node/85. There is only one airport terminal; the arrival hall is located on level 2 while the departure hall is on level 4.

Participants are responsible for transport arrangements to and from the port of departure and arrival. There are three ways to get to the hotel: public meter-taxi, limousine service, and the Airport Rail Link.

    • Public meter-taxi: Follow the overhead signs to level 1 (ground level)of the airport terminal. Line/ queue up at thepublic meter-taxi kiosks to receive a ticket/coupon(there should be several lines for these). At the kiosk, requesta normal (sedan) taxi if you are one or two persons, or get a van if you are three or four persons; the maximum number of riders in a van is four. On the ticket/coupon, there is a taxi Lane Number in BOLD print (see the sample coupon, above); look for that number above the taxi bay across the driveway. Go to the taxi, show the driver the hotel address in Thai. You need to pay THB50 airport fee on top of the meter price. Journey time is anything from 30 minutes to over an hour depending on the traffic; you may instruct the taxi driver to take the expressway, in which case you should also pay the toll fees (less than THB100 total). Ensure you have small change of at least 100 baht denominations, as taxi-drivers usually do not have change for larger ones. Travel from the airport to downtown Bangkok costsbetween THB200 to THB400.  If the taxi gets lost, ask the driver to call/phone the hotel for directions (have the hotel phone number with you).

    • Limousine:To get a limousine, contact the Limousine Service Center at the arrival level. The limousine pickup area is located along the outer curb, straight outside the terminal building. Please be advised that the limousine services in Bangkok are much more expensivethan public meter-taxis or the Sky Train/BTS, ranging from THB 1,000 to THB 1,500 per car.

    • Airport Rail Link:Follow the overhead signs to the basement level of the terminal. Getting to the hotel requires changing at the city station, Phaya Thai, onto the Sky Train (BTS), see: http://www.bangkok.com/airport-rail-link.htm. The closest BTS station to the hotel is Nana. For more information on the BTS, please visit: http://www.bts.co.th/customer/en/02-route-current.aspx You first buy a ticket for the Airport Rail Link trip and then buy a ticket for the Phaya Thai-Nana trip. This is the most economical way to travel.
